I work in the belly of the beast. I see it shift, see it breathe, feel its tremors. It is a monster, a demon of advancement. A creature of both speed and power. For even within the hands of the institution, it is easy to control, yet difficult to wield. Inaccuracies can spell disaster, while minute mistakes can compound chaos.
In the economy, it has created court. Political maneuvering, pincered positions, desperate operations. Courtiers are on the rise, as jobs become harder to find. Little games within big games, small fish eat smaller fish. The ecosystem has crashed, smashing strong waves against shorelines. Shattering an already fragile imbalance, a creaking culture. Cratering in its place a Chinese court, a den of vipers. A ballad of songbirds and snakes.

We are Davena and Jason Hoskins, co-authors of 40+ books and siblings who write under the pseudonym D.J. Hoskins. Three years apart and in our twenties, we have been fascinated by stories from a young age.
